Is there really THAT BIG a difference between the entry level YAMAHA and CASIO keyboards?
My son is wanting to learn to play the keyboard, I’ve been told the YAMAHA is "the bomb" but what about CASIO?
I am not looking brand new, as far as the yamaha I’m looking at the PSR 2**-3**, but what does casio have that is equivalent?
Like I said I am just looking for the best of the cheapest or the cheapest of the best ie; ebay, craigslist, yard sale whatever.
Any advice is appreciated.
Dale – Either one will work great as a beginners keyboard. Both brands are marketed towards the same people. Don’t forget you will need a keyboard stand ($15-$25) and a pedal for sustain ($10-$20).
I had an entry level Yamaha ($100 Walmart) and I thought is sounded pretty good.

Here is one of the video demonstration lessons (MultiPad Creator) from our new tutorial set for the Yamaha PSR-S700 and Yamaha PSR-S900 portable keyboards.
http://www.simonsmithexplanations.co.uk/acatalog/PSR-S700-and-PSR-S900.html
The tutorial set format is spoken word CD audio for the detailed step by step instruction (so the user can fully concentrate on their PSR S700 or PSR S900 whilst following the practical examples). In addition, each step by step audio lesson has a simplified DVD video demonstration. This is just one of many quick DVD video demonstrations in the set. We hope you enjoy this sample lesson
