Vintage 1988 Yamaha SHS-200 Keytar FM Digital MIDI Keyboard
Here is a vintage Yamaha SHS-200 “Keytar” Electronic FM Digital MIDI Keyboard, introduced in 1988. This is the successor to the popular SHS-10 model, with more features, keys and an extra speaker for stereo sound. This keytar is in excellent condition, with only a few minor signs of wear (some light scratches here and there.) There is absolutely no discoloration on this unit. The keys are ivory in color, and the front of the unit is as white as it was when new. It plays and sounds just like new. There is no static in any of the controls, and all buttons and keys work perfectly. It functions as a MIDI controller, and has a stereo output jack, as well as an AC input jack. The original ‘Yamaha’ strap is included, and in like new condition. The battery compartment is spotless, no signs of ever having corrosion. These are pretty hard to find, and this is a great example of this particular model. Thanks for watching!

what do u call this kind of keyboard (as in musical instrument keyboard not computer)?
like if ur in a band cuz i want to get one but i dont know what theyre called. they have a handle up top and are held like a guitar. like eddie’s in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nSOEJ-KD1E&feature=related
That is called a keytar and they are really cool. However, they are not produced anymore, so if you want to buy one, they will be close to 1000$. I would check on Ebay to try to find some good deals.

The “next big thing” for musical instruments?
This is a video of Ric Hordinski playing a tapping instrument called the harpejji at a Phil Keaggy Concert in May 2008. The harpejji is laid out like a keyboard, but lends itself to tap guitar techniques. It would be cool to see what Andy McKee or Erik Mongrain could do on it…

Keytar-also called Keyboard Guitar.
And specially designed for iPad.
What is a keytar?
A keytar is a relatively lightweight keyboard (with or without a built-in synthesizer) that is supported by a strap around the neck and shoulders, similar to the way a guitar is supported by a guitar strap. Keytars allow players a greater range of movement compared to conventional keyboards, which are placed on stands. The instrument has a musical keyboard for triggering musical notes and sounds. Controls for pitch bends, vibrato, portamento, and sustain are placed on the instruments neck”. The term “keytar” is a portmanteau of the words “keyboard” and “guitar.” Keytars may either contain their own synthesis engines, or simply be controllers, triggering notes on another MIDI capable synthesizer.
