FROM THE AXIOM TUTORIAL – Jeff Dykhouse demonstrates the power and flexibility of the Axiom 61 advanced 61-key USB mobile MIDI controller. This cool tool has semi-weighted action and assignable aftertouch. The eight rubberized trigger pads are ideal for creating drum tracks and firing samples. Nine sliders and eight endless rotary encoder knobs put you in total control of your software studio. There are also 15 MIDI-assignable buttons—including six transport controls—assignable wheels, foot pedals and more. Jeff shows us how to program the Axiom Programming utilizing the free Enigma editor/librarian software, in addition to Reason, GarageBand, Ableton LIVE and ProTools.

FRESH new Midi Keyboard (M-Audio Axiom 25)
Whats good fam? I recently picked up an M-Audio Axiom 25 midi keyboard with the drum pads. I have been using it for 6 days straight and, so far, its pretty sick. With the pads AND the keyboard, you get the best of both worlds. I might be making some of my upcoming beats if I get any good with this, but for now, Im just gonna use other beats.
This keyboard is straight USB, and I got it for $170, if your looking into getting a midi with drum pads, I would highly recommend this one. The Axiom also has a 49 key for like $250 which is also real nice.
By the way, the beat I showed you guys was my first beat ever, so if it sucks, don’t hate on it. More beats are soon to come.
Thanks for watching.
If anyone knows how to chop up samples in garageband, give me a holler.

Fake scratch using Reason and a MIDI keyboard, by Willbe
MIDI-Scratching ? This is a technique I often use in my productions : I love scratches but I’m not a DJ. So I use what I have : a MIDI keyboard and Propellerhead Reason. This gives MIDI-scratching. It works on Reason v1 and later, and probably on other sequencing programs too, it only requires to load a sample, and to play it while applying a heavy pitch effect realtime.
Here’s a pack of classic battle scratch sample to play with : http://william.lamy.free.fr/reasonfrance/scratch-samples.zip
Watch my other vid “Sandbox Punks”, all the scratches you can hear on the soundtrack are MIDI-scratching.
