Is there really THAT BIG a difference between the entry level YAMAHA and CASIO keyboards?

My son is wanting to learn to play the , I’ve been told the YAMAHA is "the " but what about CASIO?
I am not looking brand new, as far as the yamaha I’m looking at the PSR 2**-3**, but what does casio have that is equivalent?

Like I said I am just looking for the best of the cheapest or the cheapest of the best ie; ebay, craigslist, yard sale whatever.

Any advice is appreciated.

Dale – Either one will work great as a beginners keyboard. Both brands are marketed towards the same people. Don’t forget you will need a keyboard stand ($15-$25) and a pedal for sustain ($10-$20).

I had an entry level Yamaha ($100 ) and I thought is sounded pretty good.
