What’s the difference between touch sensitive box style keys and hammer action keys on an electronic keyboard?
On the Best Buy website, I was looking for a keyboard with 88 keys, and I came across terms like "Portable Keyboard with 88 Touch Sensitive Box Style Keys" and "Portable Keyboard with 88 Hammer Action Keys." What’s the difference between the two, in terms of the keys of the keyboard?
Hammer action means it feels more like a real piano by making it more weighted on the lower notes and less weight on higher notes giving a more piano like feel. Touch Sensitive is just if you hit it it will make a note with the lightest touch. It doesn’t feel anything like a real piano and it’s not weighted. So if you practice on that and one you guy to a weighted piano it’s going to be hard for you. It would take a lot more energy.
